Sterling, Kansas – The McPherson Bulldogs Volleyball team opened KCAC play with a clean sweep of Sterling College on Wednesday night, handing the Warriors their first loss of the season. The Bulldogs now lead the all-time series between the two teams 16-14, including 3-0 sweeps in the past eight matchups.

How it Happened
The Bulldogs came into the match riding a 10-game win streak and carried that momentum into the opening set, jumping out to an early 8-1 lead. Sterling eventually fought back from behind, scoring six straight points to cut McPherson’s lead to one. The Warriors kept the set close, tying up the score twice and taking a short 21-20 lead, but the Bulldogs recovered with a 5-1 run to win the set 25-22.
In the second set, McPherson kept steady control, slowly building a 20-9 lead. A short run from Sterling cut into the Bulldogs’ lead, but McPherson closed out the set 25-17. The final set started off with some back-and-forth between the teams, until the Bulldogs scored six points in a row and forced a Warrior timeout when they took an 11-4 lead. McPherson finished the clean sweep with a 25-17 win in set three.
Lily Gray led the Bulldogs offensively with 14 kills, followed by Tori Buss with nine and Enya Fierens with six. Tabor Scanlon recorded 22 assists on the night while Roxana Varela Parra added 18. Defensively, Isabella Calle picked up 20 digs. McPherson finished with a .248 hitting percentage while Sterling hit .170 in the match.

The Bulldogs travel to Missouri this weekend for the Columbia College Quad. McPherson faces Columbia on Saturday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a match against Crowley’s Ridge College at 12:00 p.m.
