The Cheney High School varsity girls golf team captured the championship of the Cheney Invitational! Tuesday at Cherry Oaks Golf Course in Cheney with a 361 score.
The varsity tournament featured 76 players. Hesston’s Elizabeth Horsford placed first with a 6-over-par 78.
Cheney’s Ella Haar placed second with an 84, Wichita Collegiate’s Eve Ritchie placed third with an 84. Hesston’s Wendy Roth placed fourth with an 88.
Cheney’s Hailey Wells placed fifth, 89; followed by Quinnlan Dowell sixth, 93; Katy Wehrman seventh, 94; Reese Maddux eighth, 95; Emmerson Bearley, tied for 12th, 97; Nikki Wright, tied for 16th, 98.
Hesston placed second in the team standings with a 365 score, followed by Wichita Collegiate 377, Rose Hill 414, Pratt 428, Buhler 430, Wichita Trinity 435, Kingman 437, Andale 442, Garden Plain 450, Mulvane 502 and Medicine Lodge 509.
The Cheney junior varsity golfers were the only team that competed in a nine-hole par-36 tournament Tuesday at the Cherry Oaks Golf Course. Cheney posted a 216 score.
The top three medalists for Cheney were Kolbie Shivers, 51; Gracie Henning, 52; and Allison Smith, 54. Susana Mullins placed fourth, 59; and Madisyn Schmidt, fifth, 64.
Pretty Prairie varsity girls golf team finishes 9th
The Pretty Prairie High School varsity girls golf team placed ninth in the Cheney Invitational Tuesday at Cherry Oaks Golf Course in Cheney with a 441 score.
Pretty Prairie’s Hallie Deel tied for the ninth-place medal with a 96 score.
Jewelynn Reese tied for 36th place with a 109 score, followed by Lyndsey Hoyt, tied for 45th, 116; Sommerleigh Mizell, tied for 53rd, 120; and Ellie Hoyt, 75th, 150.
