On Friday night, the Humboldt Cubs traveled to Leon for their opening game of the 2026 season. Humboldt won 32-6.
The Cubs opened the game with a fumble recovery on the kickoff. Three plays later, they would find the end zone with a TD and a successful two-point conversion. This would help Humboldt lead 20-0 at halftime.
Humboldt added two more touchdowns in the second half.
The player of the game was senior Broc Ivy, with 61 yards rushing and three catches, including one for a touchdown. He also had seven tackles, two fumble recoveries and one interception.
Humboldt will be home next Friday vs. Eureka.
