Salina Streets to Get New Pavement Markings

Drivers in Salina will see new pavement markings on several major roads starting Monday, October 19, through Friday, October 23, 2026. Traffic Control Services plans to work each day from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The work will take place on Broadway from Chicago to Pacific, Ninth Street from Euclid north to the bridge, and Ash from Broadway to Ohio. Crews will use painting equipment and mobile traffic control to apply the new markings.

You may notice slow-moving vehicles and workers along these routes. If you travel in these areas, give the crews plenty of space. Avoid driving over freshly painted lines, which can damage your vehicle and the new markings. If you can, choose a different route to keep traffic flowing and protect workers.

Microsurfacing adds a thin layer of polymer-modified asphalt slurry to the surface. The coating creates a smooth, water-resistant barrier and seals small cracks. It also makes driving smoother and extends the life of the road when paired with regular sealing. Salina aims to resurface streets like this every six to eight years.

This project costs $950,000 and is part of the larger $5.9 million maintenance plan for city streets in 2026.
