A Salina man faces numerous charges after a violent incident early Thursday morning. According to Police Captain Jim Feldman, about 7am officers responded to a home in the 600 block of W. Iron after reports of a man acting unpredictably inside the residence.
Two women told police their acquaintance, 26-year-old Mason Hibbert, had started behaving erratically. The situation escalated when Hibbert allegedly grabbed one woman, causing both to fall to the ground. Police say Hibbert then began choking her. The other woman stepped in and managed to stop the attack. Both women ran to a neighbor’s home and called police.
When officers arrived, they tried to speak with Hibbert and asked him to come out. Hibbert did not respond at first but eventually came outside and was taken into custody. During the arrest, Hibbert reportedly headbutted an officer in the chest. The officer was not hurt. Police also noted Hibbert had broken a mirror in the home and injured his hand.
Officers took Hibbert to the hospital for treatment. While there, police say Hibbert assaulted a nurse and spit water at a security guard. Once he received medical care, officers booked him into the Saline County Jail.
Hibbert faces charges including aggravated domestic battery, domestic battery, criminal damage to property, battery of a law enforcement officer, interference with law enforcement.
