LAWRENCE, Kan. – The McPherson High School cross country team traveled to Lawrence for the annual Rim Rock Farm Classic on Saturday. The girls were one of 30 teams and the boys were one of 55 teams in the Blue Division.
McPherson finished 12th as a team on the girls side. With a field of over 320 runners, Adeline Kramer took 39th for the Bullpups with a time of 22:10.57. Kamryn Prescott (50th, 22:27.05) and Eliza Jex (93rd, 23:38.22) also finished in the top third of the standings.
In the boys Blue race, McPherson was 10th out of the 55 teams competing. Tripp Pelzel finished with the top time for the Bullpups in 41st at 18:17.59. Over 450 competitors ran in the Blue race on the boys side and all of McPherson’s runners were in the top half. Xavier Hartinger (45th, 18:27.31) and Isaiah Ortiz (79th, 19:02.17) rounded out the top finishers for the squad.
“Our varsity teams competed today against very large fields of competition,” said coach Nikolous Rempe. “We battled through very wet and muddy conditions, yet we ran much faster times than last week. We will look to carry this momentum into the second half of the season.”
