The Hutchinson Trinity Catholic High School varsity boys cross country team placed second at the Sterling Invitational Thursday with 79 points.
The Celtics were edged by the Buhler varsity boys team, which scored 67 points for first place.
Hutchinson Trinity Catholic was paced by senior Dylan Bornholdt, who placed eight in the varsity boys 5K race with a time of 16 minutes, 53 seconds.

Haven’s Isaiah Doherty fourth in varsity boys 5K at Sterling Invitational
Haven High School senior Isaac Doherty placed fourth varsity boys 5K race Thursday at the Sterling Invitational cross country meet with a time of 16 minutes, 1.1 seconds.
The Haven boys placed sixth with 149 points.
Haven junior Jayden Idacavage placed 32nd, 18:35.9; followed by sophomore Jordan Kaufman, 36th, 18:46.6; sophomore Camden Behnk, 40th, 18:56.6; sophomore Kayden Geffert, 52nd, 19:45.5; freshman Abel Doherty, 54th, 19:51.8; junior Atreyu Mitchell, 57th, 19:55.3; and junior Wyatt Bontrager, 63rd, 18:58.1.
Sophomore Amelia Scott placed 24th in the varsity girls 5K race with a time of 22:46.2, followed by senior teammate Abby Thalmann, who placed 36th in 24:59.4.

The Sterling High School varsity boys cross country team placed 11th with 239 points at their home invitational on Thursday.
The top runner for the Black Bear boys was junior William Wilson, who placed 25th with a time of 18 minute, 4.7 seconds.
Sophomore Ian Dillard placed 39th, 18:55.7; senior Ben Bierstedt, 61st, 19:57; senior Isaac Wley, 70th, 20:37.1; sophomore Daniel Bates, 71st, 20:40.3; freshman David Morgan, 77th, 21:11.6; and sophomore Aiden Rexwinkle, 83rd, 22:00.3.
