Buhler Cross Country Runners Starkweather, Cherry Listed Among Kansas Leaders

Buhler High School cross country runners Corbin Starkweather, Isabella Friesen and Ryan Cherry are ranked in the top 10 in Kansas Class 4A in the latest Sports in Kansas rankings released on Monday.

Starkweather is second in Class 4A with a 5K time of 18 minutes, 50.4 seconds and Friesen is eighth with a time of 20:13.2. Andale’s Ayvah Banda is fourth with a time of 19:33.86.

Buhler’s Ryan Cherry is ninth in Class 4A boys with a time of 16:50.32.

The Andale boys have four runners in the top 10 in Class 4A: Dustin Buchanan, first, 16:21.38; Roman Lubbers, fourth, 16:30.35; Cade Brown, sixth, 16:36.91; and Sam Pavelski, seventh, 16:40.39.

Great Bend’s Decorah Schroeter is ranked fourth in Class 5A girls with a time of 18:10.48.

In Class 3A girls, Hesston’s Reese Quinn and Avery Larson are fourth and fifth with times of 19:32.79 and 19:36.73. Ellsworth’s Molly Ehrlich is nit, 19:52.61; and Cheney’s Brin Bergkamp, ninth, 19:56.8.

In Class 2A girls, Marion’s Dylan Kraus is third, 19:30.27; Hillsboro’s Riley Richert, sixth, 19:54.2; and Moundridge’s Baylee Schriner, eighth, 20:07.4.

In Class 1A boys, Goessel’s Eli Gaeddert is still No. 1 with a time of 16:17.5. Stafford’s Joel Valadez is seventh, 17:12.85.

In Class 2A boys, Moundridge’s Dan Kuder is fourth with a time of 16:48.8. Berean Academy’s Will Snook is seventh, 17:07.08; and Marion’s Landon Levis, 10th, 17:35.66.

In Class 3A boys, Cheney’s Stratton Young is third with a time of 15:45.7 and Hoisington’s Brody Rossman is seventh at 16:34.4.

Wichita Trinity Academy is tearing up Class 3A boys with six runners in the top 10. WTA’s Gavin Lindahl, a former Buhler Crusader, is in second place at 15:45.5.
