GARDEN CITY – The No. 20-ranked Hutchinson Community College volleyball team earned their fourth-straight victory on Saturday with a dominant performance in a Jayhawk Conference road test at Garden City.
The Blue Dragons snapped a two-match losing streak to the Broncbusters after a 25-11, 25-10, 25-20 victory at Conestoga Arena.
Hutchinson improved to 14-8 overall and into a tie for second place in the KJCCC at 6-1. The Blue Dragons will play No. 18 Barton at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the Sports Arena. Garden City is now 4-12 overall and 2-5 in the KJCCC.
Blue Dragon setter Klaudia Bilinksa set a balanced offensive attack and had her fourth double-double of the season with 33 assists and 10 digs.
Outside hitter Giovanna Monteiro led the Blue Dragons with 13 kills on .444 hitting. Monteiro added eight digs.
Outside hitter Lauren Vasquez had 11 kills on 24 attacks, hitting .208.
Middle blocker Addison Hansen hit .375 with four kills and a season-high five total blocks. Middle blocker Mattie Galliher had four kills with four blocks and four digs. Julia Macedo also had four kills.
Libero Clara Oliveira finished with 18 digs to move into ninth place on the Hutchinson career digs list with 885. Prather had a season-high seven digs.
The Dragons had 10 service aces with two each from Bilinksa and freshman Ellie Prather.
Over the first two sets, the Blue Dragons hit .317 and allowed Garden City only 21 combined points of the first two sets.
Vasquez had a huge third set for the Blue Dragons with six kills in the final set and four more for Monteiro.
