HESSTON, Kan. — The Hesston College women’s soccer team scored five first-half goals on its way to a 7-0 victory over Faith Baptist Bible College on Friday night. The win improved the Larks to 2-1-2 on the season.
Hesston opened the scoring in the 11th minute when Brooklyn Bailey found the back of the net. Just over a minute later, Yesenia Sanchez scored off an assist from Kailee Sanders to quickly push the lead to 2-0.
Sanders added a goal of her own in the 18th minute, finishing an assist from Susana Martinez to give the Larks a 3-0 advantage. Hesston continued to control the first half, with Brooklyn Paskett scoring off an Emilie Romero assist in the 30th minute.
Less than three minutes later, Paskett set up Shaniya Scott for Hesston’s fifth goal of the night, sending the Larks into halftime with a 5-0 lead.
The Larks picked up where they left off after halftime. Kristyn Oliver scored in the 50th minute before Bailey added her second goal of the match in the 54th to complete the scoring at 7-0.
Bailey led the attack with two goals, while Sanchez, Sanders, Paskett, Scott and Oliver each scored once. Sanders and Paskett each finished with a goal and an assist, while Martinez and Romero also recorded assists.
Hesston outshot Faith Baptist 23-6 and put 16 shots on goal. Ashleigh Williams and Keira Rankin split time in goal, each making one save as the Larks recorded their second consecutive shutout.
The Larks will return home Wednesday, Sept. 9 to face Sterling College.
