WELLSVILLE – Wellsville defeated Iola 35-14 Friday night, pulling away in the second half after a defensive battle to open the game.
After halftime, Iola came out strong, with Jase Herrmann returning the opening kickoff 42 yards to set up a three-play touchdown drive, capped by an 18-yard TD pass from Reed Clift to Austin Crooks. Then Wellsville scored on back-to-back drives to take the lead.
Crooks finished with 87 yards receiving and a touchdown, while Clift threw for 205 yards and a touchdown and added a rushing score.
