FRONTENAC, Kan. – Frontenac defeated Iola 35-0 Friday night in the Mustangs first district game of the season.
The game was scoreless after the first quarter before Frontenac took a 20-0 lead into halftime. Iola’s rushing attack continued to show progress, led by Reed Clift, who rushed for 95 yards on 23 carries. Freshman Milo Franklin also made his first start of the season.
Clift completed 9-of-18 passes for 73 yards and 3 interceptions, while Jase Herrmann led the Mustangs with four receptions for 49 yards. Iola finished with 181 total yards, including a great performance on the ground.
The Mustangs stayed competitive in several areas, including first downs, where Frontenac held a 14-11 edge. Iola also went 2-for-9 on third downs, while Frontenac was 0-for-6.
Iola returns home next Friday to face Columbus in Week 5.
