GARNETT, Kan. – Iola was dominant in its Week 3 performance, beating Anderson County 55-8 Friday night.
The Mustangs jumped out to a 41-0 halftime lead, with Reed Clift leading the way. The junior quarterback completed 8-of-12 passes for 281 yards and five touchdowns while rushing for 106 yards and two scores. He finished the game with 387 total yards and seven touchdowns. Clift’s first touchdown came on a 33-yard pass to James Hunt after breaking five tackles in the backfield and throwing off his back foot to find Hunt in the end zone.
Austin Crooks caught three passes for 101 yards and a touchdown, while Jase Herrmann totaled 59 receiving yards, a touchdown and a 54-yard punt return touchdown. Anderson County did not complete a pass, with one interception coming from the Iola defense.
The Mustangs hit the road next Friday to face Frontenac (3-0) in Week 4
