McPHERSON, Kan. – McPherson High School Softball swept the Andale/Garden Plain (Andale/GP) Indians on Monday, April 7, highlighted by a three-run walk-off home run by Rylie Whitfield in game two.

McPherson won game one handily, defeating the Lady Indians 7-1 to give them their first loss of the season. Carmin Pavlovich had a no-hitter that was snapped in the 6th inning. McPherson led 3-0 at that point, thanks to two RBI’s by Whitfield, one on a sacrifice fly and one on a base hit. Ashlyn Schroeder drove home a run in the fifth inning as well.
Andale/GP got on the board in the 6th with a sacrifice fly, but the Bullpups added four insurance runs in the bottom of the 6th. Brooke Doile drove home two runs on a hit before Pera Bauer drove home a run. Whitfield got her third RBI of the game with a two-out single to make the score 7-1, which ended up as the final score.
Pavlovich threw all seven innings, striking out 11 batters to earn the win. Whitfield, Doile, and Bauer had two hits apiece.
Game two ended thrillingly, seeing McPherson win 6-5. Andale/GP led 3-0 going to the bottom of the 5th inning, but McPherson bounced back on a Kynnedi Huggard RBI-single before Schroeder singled, scoring two runs on the hit and an error, tying the game 3-3.
The Lady Indians stormed back, taking a 5-3 lead following a two-run home run in the 7th. McPherson led off the bottom of the 7th with a single by Kadence Zaharis. Huggard then walked to represent the tying run, but Whitfield walked it off with a three-run home run to win the game for the Bullpups.
McPherson has now won three in a row, improving to 7-3 on the season. They will resume AVCTL-3 play on Friday, April 6, against Circle on the road.
