Former Derby Standout Samuel Same Tops Transfer Portal News

According to the Derby Informer, former Derby High School standout Samuel Same enters the transfer portal after spending the early part of his college career at Iowa State.

Same, a redshirt sophomore outside linebacker/defensive end from Wichita, Kansas, originally committed to Iowa State out of Derby High School as a three-star edge/linebacker recruit.

Same redshirted in 2023, saw limited action in 2024 with appearances in three games, and did not record statistics in 2025.

While at Iowa State he earned Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team honors and was on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

• Former Goddard Eisenhower standout Carter Pabst is headed to the transfer portal after one season at Washington State. He will have three seasons of eligibility remaining at his next stop.

A freshman wide receiver, Pabst appeared in nine games in 2025, catching nine passes for 168 yards and one touchdown, including 43 yard pass.

Pabst originally joined Washington State in 2025 after a decorated high school career at Eisenhower, where he set the Kansas high school state record for career receiving touchdowns with 54.

He finished his prep career with 3,030 receiving yards and 153 receptions.

• Former Lansing standout Caden Crawford entered the transfer portal after spending the 2025 season at South Dakota.

A junior defensive lineman, Crawford earned Second Team All-Conference honors and was named to the MVFC All-Newcomer Team.

Crawford started throughout the season at defensive end and opened the year with six tackles and a tackle for loss at Iowa State.

Caden Crawford’s younger brother Cooper recently signed to play football at South Dakota after playing football and basketball at Kansas City Piper.

Older sister Caroline enjoyed significant success on the volleyball court for both KU and Wisconsin after starring at Lansing.
