Sterling High School Standout Zane Farney Shines for Dordt College

Former Sterling High School standout Zane Farney picked up right where he left off.

Farney made an immediate impact in his collegiate debut for Dordt University this weekend, rushing for 67 yards and two  touchdowns in a 41-7 season-opening win over Hastings.

The former Sports in Kansas 1A Player of the Year graduated from Sterling last spring after putting together one of the most impressive careers in small-school Kansas football history.

As a senior, Farney rushed for 2,300 yards and 42 touchdowns while leading Sterling to a perfect 13-0 season and its first state football championship since 1982.

He finished his high school career with an incredible 6,700 rushing yards and 92 touchdowns while also making an impact defensively at cornerback.
