Defending state champions Sterling (1A) and Andale (3A) are ranked first in their classes in the Kansas Football Coaches Association poll (Week 9) released on Wednesday.
It’s the final regular-season KFBA poll of the season.
Sterling is ranked Mo. 1 in Class 1A, followed by Thomas More Prep-Marian, Rossville, Inman and Smith Center.
Sliver Lake is No. 1 in Class 2A, followed by Sabetha, Caney Valley, Chaparral and Council Grove.
Andale is No. 1 in Class 3A, followed by Hesston, Cheney, Holcomb and Jefferson County West.
Shawnee Mission Bishop Miege is No. 1 in Class 4A, followed by Overland Park-St. Thomas Aquinas, Great Bend, McPherson and Louisburg.
Wichita Kapaun-Mount Carmel is No. 1 in Class 5A, followed by Hays High School, Blue Valley, De Soto and Andover.
Mill Valley is No. 1 in Class 6A, followed by Derby, Manhattan, Lawrence and Maize.
Both Sterling and Andale will have to wait a week before playing in their first state playoff games because their first-round opponents in the Kansas Class 1A and 3A state playoffs (Syracuse and Larned) forfeited.
