Boil Order Lifted for Yates Center and Virgil. Continues for Other Affected Areas

The boil water order for the city of Yates Center and the city of Virgil was lifted early Saturday afternoon by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment after lab testing of water samples from those two cities confirmed no presence of bacterial contamination.

The boil advisory continues for customers of Woodson County Rural Water District 1 and Wilson County Rural Water District 9, which like Virgil get their water from Yates Center, until testing specific to those systems has been completed.

The boil order was issued early Thursday after a coupling on one of Yates Center’s main water lines ruptured, causing a significant loss of water and pressure within the system.
