YATES CENTER — Reservoir Road near the nursing home will close to all traffic beginning at 7 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, as construction continues on a new facility.
The City of Yates Center says no through access will be available in the construction area. Drivers may use alternate routes through the fairgrounds and behind city buildings.
The previous Yates Center Health and Rehab facility was destroyed in a wildfire on March 14, 2025. All residents were safely evacuated.
Residents were temporarily relocated to sister facilities operated by Mission Health Communities in nearby communities, including El Dorado, Neodesha, Oswego and Pittsburg, while construction is underway.
Groundbreaking for the new, modern facility took place Feb. 24, 2026. Completion is anticipated in late 2026 or early 2027.
