With housing concerns as a common backdrop, Salina City Commissioners this week followed the recommendation of the Planning Commission and voted 4-0 to rezone the old Motel 6 property from a C-7 Highway Commercial property to C-5 Service Commercial zoning.
City Planner Dustin Herrs addressed the commission with the potential plan for the 3.9 acre plot.
The rezoning approval is the first step in converting the property on Diamond Drive into a 66-unit apartment complex with 48 studio apartments. Salina Investments LLC filed the request.
