The shade is on the way in Salina.
Salina Downtown Executive Director Leslie Bishop tells Ad Astra News the City Lights Pavilion project is nearly completed and the downtown Farm and Art Market will open up again in the reimagined space on Saturday, August 22nd.
From the fresh pavement underfoot to the sturdy steel frame and fans above, Salinans will have a new place to gather for events on the weekends and covered parking during the week.
Hutton Construction led the build on the $1.4 million project located at the corner of Ash Street and Sante Fe.
The timing is quite fitting as Governor Laura Kelly has proclaimed August as Kansas Farmers’ Market Month.
These markets have expanded across the state from 26 locations in 1987 to over 116 today, serving as vital economic drivers that connect local farmers directly with consumers and keep dollars within Kansas communities.
