Lyons scored two touchdowns to take a 14-8 lead over Larned at halftime, and then used a strong defensive effort to hold that 14-8 advantage to get the homecoming win.

Larned scored first on a quarterback sneak and added the two-point conversion to go up 8-0. Lyons returned the favor on their next drive as Xander Young broke loose on a 65-yard TD run. However, the PAT failed.

Then with 20.4 seconds remaining in the half, Quanick Hamilton scored from 15 yards out and Xander Young added the two-point conversion to make the score 14-8.

Larned came close to scoring twice in the second half, but the Lyons defense held the Indians out of the end zone on two goal line stands.

Argenis Montanez had two big plays for the defense, as he intercepted a pass on the 5-yard line in the second goal line stand and then had a deflection on a long Larned third-down pass in the fourth quarter.

Lyons is now 4-1 and 1-0 in Class 3A District 7 play. Lyons will travel to Hoisington for a matchup of the only two undefeated teams in District 7.
