Ottawa, Kan. – The Bethany College Swedes took on the Ottawa University Braves in an intradivisional matchup. Although the Swedes would fall 14-59, there were some highlights and big plays in favor of Bethany.

In the first quarter, Wes Anderson would connect with Lael Eddens for a 32-yard touchdown to cut the deficit to one. In the second period, Trevyn Adams punched one into the endzone for a two-yard touchdown. Anderson would follow that up with a successful two-point conversion with his feet. Towards the end of the quarter, the Swedes’ defense would make the Braves regret being greedy as the Braves tried to go for it on fourth down but were unsuccessful. Bethany stopped the Braves on fourth down again in the third quarter.

Wes Anderson led the passing attack for Bethany with 143 yards and a touchdown. Trevyn Adams racked up 50 yards and a score. Lael Eddens had the best day for the Swedes with 110 receiving yards on seven receptions and a score.

On defense, Noah Penunuri and Mason Burch tied for the team lead in total tackles with eight while Burch recorded the lone sack of the afternoon for the Swedes. Burch also tallied 4.5 tackles for loss.

As a team, the Swedes were only able to muster 225 yards of total offense (146 passing, 79 rushing). Turnovers continue to kill the momentum as Bethany was –3 on the day in turnover margin.
