The Concordia Panthers used a 133-yard rushing night from running back Braytin Hake and a two-touchdown passing performance from quarterback Jett Flax to end a five-game losing streak and defeat the Smoky Valley Vikings 18-14 in Concordia on Friday night.
Despite a solid rushing night for Smoky Valley senior running back Crew Elliott and a fumble return for a score by fellow senior Auley Boughfman, which put the Vikings up just before halftime, Smoky Valley was unable to find the end zone in the second half after Hake scored his lone touchdown in the third quarter to put Concordia up for good.
Concordia moved to 2-5 on the season while Smoky Valley dropped to 3-4 and 0-4 in district. Next up for Smoky Valley is a game at Hillsboro next Friday.
