Allen Rallies Late for 2-1 Win Over Crowder

Allen Community College women’s soccer picked up its second win of the season Wednesday morning, defeating Crowder College 2-1 at Crowder College.

The Red Devils got on the board in the 23rd minute when Karah Cooper found the back of the net on an unassisted goal, giving Allen an early 1-0 advantage.

Crowder answered in the 36th minute, with Ella Anderson scoring off an assist from Dayna Wood to send the match into halftime tied 1-1.

After a scoreless opening  of the second half, Cooper came through again in the 82nd minute, scoring her second goal of the match to put Allen back in front, 2-1.

The Red Devils defense held on over the final eight minutes to secure the victory.

Allen finished with 12 shots, including six on goal, while Crowder also recorded 12 shots. Allen goalkeeper Mackenzie Martel made 10 saves in the victory.

Cooper is currently tied for 10th in the conference in scoring, while Martel is tied for first in saves with 31.

The Red Devils are now 2-2 on the season and currently sit at No. 4 in the Division II standings. Allen will return to action Saturday at Neosho (1-2-1). Kickoff is scheduled for 9 a.m.
