Neosho County Community College continued its impressive 2026 campaign with a hard-fought 2–1 victory over NJCAA Division I opponent Crowder College in a competitive midweek encounter in Chanute.
Entering the contest with a 10-0-5 record, the Panthers faced a strong Crowder side boasting a 6-1-5 record, setting the stage for a highly competitive matchup between two in-form teams.
The visitors made the stronger start, capitalizing on a goalkeeper clearance to strike from distance and take an early 1–0 lead. Neosho responded by establishing control over large periods of the opening half, pushing forward in search of an equalizer. Despite enjoying significant spells of possession, the Panthers struggled to turn their control into clear-cut opportunities, leaving Crowder with a narrow advantage heading into the break.
Halftime provided Neosho with an opportunity to regroup, reassess and reinforce the adjustments needed to turn possession into meaningful attacking opportunities.
As has become a defining characteristic of the Panthers throughout the season, the response after the interval was immediate and purposeful.
Neosho found its equalizer through Keane Hazeldine, who stepped up to convert confidently from the penalty spot and bring the contest level. The momentum continued to shift in the Panthers’ favor, and Hazeldine struck again shortly afterward, producing an outstanding effort from outside the penalty area to complete the turnaround and give Neosho a 2–1 advantage.
Despite taking the lead, Neosho were unable to find the third goal that would have put the contest beyond reach. Crowder responded by creating dangerous opportunities of their own, setting up an intense and closely contested final period.
Both teams continued to compete at a high level, searching for weaknesses in each other’s defensive structures as the game developed into an open and fiercely contested encounter.
The Panthers faced a further challenge when they were reduced to 10 men with five minutes remaining. However, Neosho demonstrated resilience, discipline and determination in the closing stages, successfully protecting their narrow advantage to secure another impressive victory.
The result highlighted Neosho’s ability to respond to adversity, make effective halftime adjustments and find ways to win against quality opposition. A second-half double from Hazeldine ultimately proved decisive, while the collective effort to see out the contest ensured another positive result for the Panthers.
