IOLA, Kan. — The City of Iola is preparing for its annual fall citywide cleanup, with pickup scheduled to begin Monday, Oct. 5. City residents are encouraged to use the cleanup as an opportunity to dispose of unwanted household items and yard debris.
Residents who want items picked up must sign up in advance. The deadline to schedule a pickup is noon Friday, Oct. 2, and all items should be placed along the street by Sunday evening, Oct. 4. Residents can register online through the city’s signup form or call 620-365-4910 or 620-365-4903.
Items that will be accepted include leaves, grass clippings and limbs, along with freon-free appliances, furniture, clothing and other miscellaneous household items. Yard debris must be separated from household waste, as mixed loads will not be collected.
The city will not accept demolition or construction debris, tires, auto parts, hazardous materials, ammunition or explosives as part of the cleanup.
