Sterling’s Kilgore, Farney Combine for Four Gold Medals

Sterling High School senior Julia Kilgore won the Class 2A girls 400-meter gold medal for the fourth straight year at the Kansas State Track and Field Championships Friday and Saturday at at Crossland Stadium on the Wichita State University campus.

Kilgore posted a time of 56.56 seconds in the 400. Kilgore also placed first in the 200-meter dash (24.82).

Zane Farney of Sterling High School won the Class 2A boys state title in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.66 seconds and also brought home the gold in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 38.68 seconds.

Sterling’s Wyatt Little placed sixth in the 2A boys pole vault (13-0).

Jacob Lewis placed eighth in the high jump (6-2), ninth in the 100 hurdles (15.88) and 10th in the 300 hurdles (42.59).

Cory Svatý placed 17th in the 2A girls 200-hurdles prelims (51.46).

The Sterling boys placed eighth with 23.5 points. Sterling’s girls tied for 16th place with 20 points.
