MULVANE, Kan. — The Andale/Garden Plain softball team bounced back with a sweep over Mulvane on Monday at the Mulvane Sports Complex.
Andale/Garden Plain won game one 7-2, before rallying for a 7-3 victory in game two.
In game one, Mulvane jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning before Andale/Garden Plain tied the game in the third on an RBI double by Abby Durham. Paige Stanhope gave Andale/Garden Plain the lead in the fourth with a 2-run single, followed by an RBI double by Coti Hiner. Ryin Gibbins extended the lead with an RBI single, which was followed by a 2-run single by Brooklyn Sele. Mulvane scored its final run in the seventh.
Clare Krier pitched a complete game, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out three. Stanhope went 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs.
Mulvane jumped out to a 3-0 lead through one inning in game two, but Andale/Garden Plain slowly chipped away. In the third, Emily Eck got Andale/Garden Plain on the board with an RBI single. Stanhope made it 3-2 in the fourth with an RBI triple, and she eventually tied the game at 3 by scoring on an error. Durham had a sacrifice fly, and Eck drove in another run, making it 5-3. Bella Cates and Durham each added RBIs in the seventh.
Gibbins went the distance in the circle, allowing three runs on five hits and two strikeouts. Eck went 3-for-5 at the plate.
