ANDALE, Kan. — Nine members of the Andale/Garden Plain softball team were recognized with All-Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League IV honors.
Six are first-team selections, with head coach Erin Carney being named the league’s Coach of the Year. Clare Krier and Ryin Gibbens are first-team selections as pitchers. Gibbens went 9-2, allowing 27 runs on 55 hits in 69 ⅔ innings and 30 strikeouts with an ERA of 1.91. Krier went 5-4 on the season, pitching 53 ⅔ innings, allowing 26 runs on 52 hits and 33 strikeouts with an ERA of 3.00. Krier batted .244 at the plate while Gibbens had a batting average of .396.
Rose Molitor is a first-team selection at first base. Molitor had a .346 batting average with seven doubles, a triple, and a team-leading five home runs with a team-leading 30 RBIs.
Abby Durham is a first-team selection at second base. Durham batted .390 with seven doubles, four triples, three home runs, and 26 RBIs.
Brooklyn Sele is a first-team selection at shortstop. Sele led the team with a .463 batting average with a team-leading 37 hits, four doubles, a triple, three home runs and 19 RBIs.
Emily Eck is a first-team selection as an outfielder. Eck had a .360 batting average with two doubles, a team-leading six triples, two home runs, and 16 RBIs.
Paige Stanhope is a second-team selection at third base. Stanhope recorded a .263 batting average with two doubles, a triple, three home runs, and 10 RBIs.
Bella Cates is a second-team selection as an outfielder. Cates had a .321 batting average with a triple and 10 RBIs.
Coti Hiner was an honorable mention selection as a catcher. Hiner was second on the team in batting average at .413 with five doubles, three triples, two home runs, and 22 RBIs.
Clearwater’s Trista Welty was the league’s Pitcher of the Year, and Clearwater’s Liv Miller was the league’s Player of the Year.
Andale/Garden Plain finished the year with a 20-6 record and took third place in Class 4A after the weather in Lawrence canceled the third-place game.
