Salt City Splash to Open May 23 for 2026 Season

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Salt City Splash is set to open Memorial Day weekend, with the first day of the 2026 season on Saturday, May 23. The Splash will also be open on Memorial Day Monday, May 25, but moving forward, will be closed on Mondays throughout the summer. 

Summer 2026 public swim hours include (weather-permitting): 

  • Saturday, May 23: Open 12:30-6:30 p.m.
  • Sunday, May 24: Open 12:30-6:30 p.m.
  • Memorial Day Monday, May 25: Open 12:30-6:30 p.m.
  • Tuesdays through Sundays (starting May 26): Open 12:30-6:30 p.m.
  • Mondays (starting June 1): CLOSED for public swim session

Salt City Splash is located at 1601 S. Plum in Carey Park. The Splash is owned and maintained by the City of Hutchinson, while Hutch Rec manages the aquatic operations, programs, and staffing of the facility during the summer months. Hutch Rec hires more than 50 employees to operate the Splash, including facility managers and assistant managers, lifeguards, slide attendants, swim lesson instructors, admissions and concessions attendants, and custodians. 

Season passes are on sale now and can be purchased online. Swim lesson registration is also open online, with two sessions available, one session in June and one session in July. 

Returning this year is Long Course fitness swimming offered on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 7-9 a.m. in June and July. Participants can choose to register for the monthly sessions or drop-in and pay a higher fee. 

Also returning in 2026 is the Toddler/Boomer Time on Saturday mornings from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Families with children 7 and younger, as well as adults 60 and older, are invited to this exclusive time before the Splash opens to the public on Saturdays. They may stay when the Splash opens to the public at 12:30 p.m. Participants may pay regular admission fees or use their season passes. Toddler/Boomer Time will start June 6 and run on Saturdays through July 25.
