The process of hiring a new Superintendent of Schools for McPherson USD 418 is underway.

At the first of a series of special meetings to be held this month Wednesday evening, Board of Education President Lara Vanderhoof said the board would be reviewing application packets from the candidates who applied to succeed Dr. Shiloh Vincent, who is leaving June 30th to become director of ESSDACK, a Hutchinson-based educational services support organization.

The board is also reviewing questions that will be used in the interview process in this early stage. Board members will review the applications and then determine which candidates it will bring in for interviews. Dr. Vanderhoof indicated the number of candidates to be brought in will be determined as the process proceeds.

Once the finalists have been identified, interviews will be scheduled. As part of the interview process, there will be opportunities community members to meet the finalists.

In addition to the regular board meeting Monday, August 13th, four other special meetings have been scheduled this month, the first of which will be Tuesday, April 14th at 5:30 PM at the Central Office. Other meetings will be held April 20th and 24th, both at 5:30 PM, and one other meeting will be held Saturday, April 25th at 1 PM.

As of now, a new USD 418 superintendent is expected to be named by the end of the month, and that could happen at the April 25th meeting.
