The cameras remain in place and the conversation continues on whether to keep Flock cameras operational.
Lindsborg residents gathered in City Hall on Monday to voice their concerns against the extension and or expansion of the Flock Safety camera system. Lindsborg currently has three automatic license plate readers in town and is considering adding more.
Lindsborg Police Chief Terry Reed addressed the gathering with reasons why his department trusts and uses the technology while several people stepped forward to voice opposition to the cameras. The council tabled the issue for further discussion.
Police departments around the nation say Flock cameras provide agencies with photographs of vehicles in public spaces and do not have facial recognition or mass surveillance capabilities. No action was taken regarding the Flock system last night.
