KINGMAN, Kan. – Kingman County residents are invited to a floodplain mapping open house this Wednesday, August 26th, from 2:00 to 6:30 PM at The Hangar, located at 126 North Main Street in Kingman.
The event provides an opportunity for community members to engage directly with city, county, and state leaders regarding ongoing updates to local floodplain mapping.
While the new maps are currently in a non-regulatory draft phase—with preliminary updates expected in 2027 and an official effective date anticipated for the fall of 2029—officials are encouraging public input. Residents may submit their feedback to local or state coordinators through September 26th.
