HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The Hutchinson YMCA is set to unveil its impressive new 75,000-square-foot facility with an open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony this Saturday, June 6, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Following this debut, the facility will officially open its doors for regular operations on Monday, June 8, at 5:00 a.m.
Construction on the new center began in January 2025, built on land donated by the Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. David Foster, Branch Director of the Hutchinson YMCA, emphasized the community-focused nature of the project, stating, “We just wanted to make this something that everybody in Hutchinson could be proud of.”
During the open house, staff will be available to provide self-guided tours, assist with program registrations, and help new members sign up.
The new facility is packed with features designed for health, fitness, and family fun:
- Space Place: A collaboration with the Cosmosphere, this climbing structure is designed to let children play safely while inspiring their imaginations through space exploration.
- Aquatics Center: This area includes a family pool with a zip line, water fountains, and a zero-entry design. Visitors will also find a lap pool, a lazy river, and a whirlpool.
- Fitness Amenities: The center houses a full gymnastics center, designated exercise rooms, extensive weightlifting and workout equipment, and more.
- Indoor Track: A three-lane indoor track offers views overlooking both the gymnastics center and the aquatics area.
- Community Touches: Throughout the building, visitors will find photograph murals in the exercise studios and other local touches that celebrate the Hutchinson community.
