BURLINGTON, Kan. — The Coffey County Chamber of Commerce and American Legion Post 38 will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, November 9, to officially recognize the installation of a new U.S. Flag Retirement Drop Box in downtown Burlington.
The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. at 113 N. Third St., with representatives from American Legion Post 38, the Ken Roney Foundation and the Burlington Rotary Club joining community members to celebrate the project.
The new drop box provides a convenient location for residents to dispose of worn, damaged or unserviceable American flags, ensuring they are retired properly and respectfully.
Organizers say the project reflects a collaborative effort among local organizations to provide a valuable service to the community while honoring the American flag.
The public is invited to attend the ribbon cutting, recognize the organizations that made the project possible and learn more about the proper retirement of American flags.
