Griff Galyon tallied another hat trick on Tuesday, and he helped set up the winning goal in overtime, as the Hutchinson High boys soccer beat Maize in a 4-3 overtime thriller at the Salthawk Soccer Complex.
Zae Guillen scored the winner four minutes into overtime. After a Salthawk foul near midfield, Galyon launched a long pass into the Maize penalty area. The goalkeeper dropped the ball, however, and Guillen knocked the ball into the goal.
Regulation went back and forth. Galyon scored the opening goal in the sixth minute, but Maize immediately answered with a free kick goal.
Tied 1-1 at halftime, the teams combined for four goals between the 50th and 64th minutes. Galyon scored in the 56th and 59th minutes.
The Salthawks improved to 10-5 and will clinch a first-round home playoff game with a win Thursday at Campus.
