They started filming 5-years ago – on a mammoth sized project to tell the story of a Salina festival that only lasts for 4-days. After thousands of hours of work and hundreds and hundreds of edits it got noticed.
Salina based, Fili Creative walked off the stage with a “Best of the Best” award this weekend at the Salt City Film Festival in Wichita after the documentary film that focused on the Smoky Hill River Festival “4 Days in June” was screened at the Boulevard Theatres.
According to Festival Director, Bobby Obermite, who is the Media and Film Program Coordinator at Hutch CC, about 150 films and documentaries were submitted this year and 28 films made the cut.
Fili Creative CEO, Gus Applequist spoke with the audience following the award ceremony and talked about the filmmaking process and his love for the Salina community.
