Lindsborg, Kan. – The Bethany College Women’s Soccer team faced the Avila University Eagles in a match at home. The Swedes continuously competed throughout the match despite ultimately falling to the Eagles by a score of 11-0.
The Swedes goalkeeper Maria Miera Y Moseley was called upon throughout the contest, recording 12 saves on 23 shots on goal. The Swedes’ defense worked to limit Avila’s opportunities while Miera Y Moseley helped keep the Swedes competitive throughout the match.
The Swedes continued to look for opportunities offensively, with Elizabeth Holland recording Bethany’s lone shot and putting it on goal. Bethany also earned a corner kick during the match as the Swedes continued to push forward offensively and create opportunities. Avila scored four times in the opening half before adding seven goals after halftime, resulting in the final score 11-0
Despite the result, Bethany continued to compete from start to finish and gained valuable experience as conference play gets underway. The Swedes will look to build form Sunday’s matchup as they continue further into their season.
