Red Devil men’s soccer nearly completed a late comeback Wednesday afternoon, scoring three goals in the final 17 minutes before falling to Crowder College 4-3.

Crowder jumped out to a 4-0 lead, scoring four times in the opening half to take a commanding advantage into halftime.

The Red Devils responded in the second half, with Bernard Agbavor getting Allen on the board in the 73rd minute with an unassisted goal.

Just four minutes later, Aleix Creulls found the back of the net on another unassisted goal, cutting the deficit to 4-2.

Allen continued to push and pulled within one in the 81st minute when Brendon Matemberere scored an unassisted goal to make it 4-3.

Despite the late surge, Crowder held on over the final minutes to secure the victory.

Allen recorded nine shots in the match, including three on goal, while Ignacio Paccioni made four saves in goal.

Agbavor and Matemberere each recorded two shots, with both putting one on frame. Nathan Kudiabor also registered two shots, while Creulls recorded one shot, which found the back of the net.

The Red Devils are now 1-2 on the season and will face Neosho County (2-0-2) on Sept. 5. Kickoff is set for 11:30 a.m.
