The Salina City Commission is back to full strength with five members after a roll call vote Monday placed Gary Norris into the seat vacated by former commissioner Jerry Ivey II.
Norris, who served 10-years as the Superintendent for USD 305 in Salina, was nominated by Vice Mayor Dr. Trent Daivs and elected onto the commission by a 3-1 vote with Doug Rempp casting the lone dissenting vote.
Thirty-one citizens filed an application of interest to be considered for the seat. Norris will now serve out the rest of Ivey’s unexpired term which expires January 10th 2028.
