When the new year arrives – who will be operating the Salina Animal Shelter?
The clock is ticking for an outside organization to present the winning proposal to the Salina City Commission. The City is seeking a private business or non-profit operator to run the shelter on or before January 1, 2027. Proposals are due by September 10th.
The new administrator would be responsible for all aspects of the operation from day to day animal care, to record keeping. The move was prompted by concerns after a couple of failed inspections and two employees who are facing misdemeanor charges for animal cruelty.
