HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Boys & Girls Clubs of Hutchinson is proud to announce the appointment of Kaheem “Ky” Washington as the new Assistant Site Director at the Avenue A Club. In his new role, Mr. Washington will help lead daily operations, mentor youth, support families, and foster a positive environment where young people can thrive.
Originally from New York City, Washington brings a unique blend of military service, classroom experience, and a passion for youth development. After serving five years in the United States Army Infantry, he earned his degree in Elementary Education from Fort Hays State University and has been teaching the past four years teaching sixth grade at Lincoln-McCandless Elementary School, which he will continue to do.
Throughout his career, Washington has become known for building meaningful relationships with students while creating environments where young people feel challenged, supported, and inspired to succeed. His commitment to helping youth grow academically, socially, and personally aligns closely with the Boys & Girls Clubs’ mission of enabling all young people—especially those who need us most—to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens.
“As an educator, I’ve always believed that every child deserves someone who believes in them,” said Washington. “The Boys & Girls Clubs provide another opportunity to build those relationships beyond the classroom. I’m honored to join the Avenue A team and excited to help create a safe, encouraging place where our members can learn, grow, and dream big.”
Washington’s appointment comes as our organization continues investing in strong leadership across all of our Club sites, while expanding opportunities for youth throughout Hutchinson and the surrounding communities. Boys & Girls Clubs of Hutchinson is proud to partner with USD 308 to support the academic, social, and emotional development of youth throughout our community. This collaboration strengthens our shared commitment to providing high-quality experiences that empower students to succeed in school, in life, and in the future.
As Assistant Site Director, Mr. Ky will work alongside Avenue A Site Director Drew Renaud to oversee daily programming, support staff, strengthen relationships with families, and ensure every Club member experiences a safe, fun, and impactful environment where they can build confidence and reach their full potential.
“I am honored and excited to continue serving the Hutchinson community through the Boys & Girls Club,” Washington added. “I look forward to creating positive experiences, fostering growth, and working together with our members, families, and community partners to make this a fantastic year.”
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Hutchinson believes every child deserves a place where they can feel safe, supported, and inspired to pursue their greatest potential. Through caring mentors, life changing programs, and strong community partnerships, the organization continues to empower young people to Dream Big. Right Here. Because Hutchinson Needs Club Kids.
