Salina City Commissioners on Monday will formerly accept Commissioner Jerry Ivey’s resignation – and then discuss plans for filling the vacancy.

The agenda for the 4pm meeting includes action items for naming a new Vice Mayor and to direct staff to prepare and publish expression of interest forms for those wanting to serve his term.

Kansas law states a replacement must be found within 60 days to fill the seat. Ivey was elected in November of 2023 and was sworn in to the commission back in January 2024. He announced his resignation last week.

Commissioners are also scheduled to discuss operations at the Salina Animal Shelter, as they await a completed assessment of the facility that will help identify solutions to shelter policies and procedures.
