UPDATED – Heavy Rainfall producing flooding in Southeast Kansas.

Very heavy rainfall moved over parts of southeast Kansas Thursday night into early Friday morning, prompting issuance of flood and flash flood warnings for parts of the area including Allen County. An aerial flood warning continues for Allen and northeast Neosho counties until 7;15 this morning.

Flood warnings are up along a number of rivers in the area. At Iola the river is now forecast to crest at 14.7 Feet this afternoon, just below flood Stage of 15 feet.

The Neosho River at Chanute is now forecast to crest at 29.2 feet this evening, which will cause flooding along 800 Street in the Petrolia Area south along Douglas Road to Chanute, on old US 169 north of Chanute, and on Dump Road just east of Chanute.

At Erie the Neosho will crest at 32.5 feet, 3.5 feet above flood stage Saturday afternoon, which will cause flooding along 190th Road just west of Big Creek about seven miles northwest of Erie.

At Parsons, the Neosho will crest at 24.9 feet, 3.9 feet over flood stage this evening

The updated forecast for the Verdigris River at Altoona calls for a crest of 19 feet, at flood stage, this evening.

On the Fall River at Fredonia, a crest of 24.3 feet is forecast this afternoon, 7.3 feet above flood stage, early this afternoon.

Severe storms also moved through far southeast Kansas last night, one of which produced an 86 mile an hour wind gust at Tri-City Airport West of Parsons. In the Wichita area extensive flooding was reported overnight, with multiple water rescues taking place. Eisenhower National Airport reported 5.31 inches of rain Thursday, which set a daily record for June 25th.
