Two people escaped injury early Wednesday evening when their single engine plane crashed just short of Hutchinson Regional Airport.
The Kansas Highway Patrol said the plane piloted by Steven Suddarth of Edgewood, New Mexico was approaching the airport just after 6 PM when he ran out of fuel and crashed near 20th and Fountainwood.
Hutchinson Fire Battalion Chief David Goering said their first arriving crews found the Air-Cam aircraft intact and the two occupants able to self-extricate.
Suddarth and passenger Deborah Suddarth were checked out by Reno County EMS and released at the scene.
