The man charged in connection with the January 31st shooting death of Joshua Soden near Inman was back in McPherson County District this morning for a brief hearing.
The attorney for Daniel Hawkinson, Charles Lindberg, told District Judge John Klenda there is a “voluminous” amount of discovery in the case, which he estimated with take around 60 days to review.
Assistant McPherson County Attorney Valerie Hansen did not object to a continuance, which Judge Klenda granted and set a non-evidentiary hearing June 26th via Zoom. A tentative preliminary hearing date was also set for October 13-14.
Hawkinson, who is charged with voluntary manslaughter in Soden’s death, remains free on a $200,000 dollar bond.
Soden was shot and killed after two groups who had been in a dispute at a party encountered each other nearby after leaving the party.
