A plea agreement has been entered in connection with a December, 2024 incident in Inman where shots were fired at two homes and a vehicle.
Benjamin Schwindt pleaded no contest June 11th to one count of criminal discharge of a firearm in return for prosecutors dismissing other charges in that case and three other cases in their entirety.
As part of the agreement, the McPherson County Attorney’s Office also agreed to an amendment to the sentencing range on this charge, a level 7 person felony, to 11-34 months.
The dismissed cases involved a criminal damage to property charge stemming from a December 15, 2024 incident, and two cases involving domestic battery, one of which also included a charge of violating a protection from abuse order.
A pre-sentence investigation was ordered by 9th Judicial District Judge Marilyn Wilder, with sentencing set for August 17th at 9 AM. Schwindt remains free on bond pending sentencing.
