McPHERSON, Kan. — The Andale/Garden Plain baseball team was swept by the Bullpups at the Grant Sports Complex.
McPherson took the opener, 13-3, in five innings and completed the sweep with a 7-1 victory in the nightcap.
In game one, Andale/Garden Plain struck first in the first inning scoring twice, but after that, McPherson took control and never looked back after scoring three in the second. The Bullpups tallied four in the third and six in the fourth. Andale/Garden Plain scored its final run in the fourth on an RBI groundout by Caden Fowler.
Jared Flax took the loss on the mound for Andale/Garden Plain, going 2 ⅔ innings, allowing seven runs on five hits and had three strikeouts. Easton Rieger drove in two.
In game two, McPherson scored one each in the second, third and fourth innings, before Andale/Garden Plain got an RBI single by Noah Stanley in the fifth. The Bullpups tacked on four more in the sixth. Stanley went 3-for-4 at the plate. Patrick Keehn took the loss on the mound, going 2 ⅔ innings allowing two runs on two hits and had five strikeouts.
Andale/Garden Plain (6-4) is off until next Monday when it travels to Mulvane. McPherson (9-1) travels to Circle on Friday.
