Andale/Garden Plain Baseball Sees Six Game Winning Streak Snapped in Split against Rose Hill

ANDALE, Kan. — A six-game winning streak ended for the Andale/Garden Plain baseball team in a split over Rose Hill on Monday at the Andale High School Sports Complex.

Andale/Garden Plain won the opener, 18-8, in five innings, however, its winning streak was snapped as the Rockets salvaged the split with a 15-5 victory in the finale.

In game one, Rose Hill led 1-0 in the second inning before Andale/Garden Plain responded with two runs on an RBI single by Caden Fowler and eventually scoring on an error. Andale/Garden Plain then scored five in the third highlighted by a 2-run home run by Easton Rieger, an RBI double by Nolan Pfannenstiel and a 2-run double by Easton Linnens. Rose Hill tacked on two more in the fourth before Andale scored 10 in the fourth to take a 17-3 lead. Rose Hill cut the deficit to nine, 17-8, forcing Andale/Garden Plain to score one in the fifth to end the game. Greyson Winter ended the game with a walk-off sacrifice fly. Jamey Joplin went 4 ⅓ innings on the mound, allowing eight runs on 10 hits and six strikeouts. Linnesn went 3-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs. 

In game two, Rose Hill jumped out to an 8-0 lead before Andale/Garden Plain got on the scoreboard in the third with an RBI single by Winter. Linnens cut the deficit to 8-4 with a 3-run inside the park home run, but that was the closest Andale/Garden Plain got the rest of the game. Rose Hill responded with five consecutive runs before Andale/Garden Plain scored its final run in the sixth. The Rockets tacked on two more runs in the seventh. 

Ashtin Harp took the loss on the mound, going 1 ⅓ innings, allowing six runs on four hits and striking out two. Linnens went 2-for-4 with three RBIs. 

Andale/Garden Plain (6-2) travels to McPherson for a doubleheader at 4 p.m. next Monday at the Grant Sports Complex in McPherson. Coverage on adastraradio.com begins at 3:45 p.m.
